SRAM BB 83 GXP Introduction

The SRAM GXP Team bicycle bottom bracket is durable, lightweight and designed to support SRAM road or Truvativ mountain cranksets, and is identical to bottom brackets used in popular Force and X0 groups. Left side bearing has a smaller diameter to mate with the stepped spindle of SRAM crank, allowing the inner race of left side bearing to be captured between the crank arm and spindle. Right side bearing "floats'' on spindle, handling only radial loads as you pedal. The SRAM design optimizes bearing load, minimizes drag, and gives you durability. The GXP Team Bottom Bracket has alloy cups and sealed cartridge bearings to keep dirt and water out for a maintenance-free experience.

Q: What is the GXP bottom bracket?
“GXP” stands for “Giga X Pipe”. The GXP bottom bracket shell of a bicycle is the part of the frame where the spindle of the cranks go through. The bottom bracket and spindle together form the foundation of the drivetrain on your road bike or mountain bike.

Q: How to remove GXP bottom bracket?
Begin by removing both cranks. Next remove the drive (right-side) cup, turning clockwise to remove.

Q: How to install GXP bottom bracket?
Begin with thread preparation. New cups may come with dry threadlocker already applied. Install these as they come. Another option is anti-seize such as Park Tool ASC-1. The liquid compound will provide lubrication when tightening before drying and hardening to seal and keep the cup in securely.
