With the Shimano disc brake adapter for 160 mm brake discs, different standards of brake caliper and fork or frame can be compensated for. A postmount brake caliper can be operated on an IS or flat mount fork or an IS or flat mount frame. There is also a version for adapting a PM brake to a PM frame, on which only 140mm discs can be directly mounted, as well as a version which is required for mounting 160mm discs on flat-mount rear brakes. The "VR FM to FM" version is a special feature, which is absolutely necessary for the operation of flat-mount brake calipers on the front wheel. The scope of delivery varies from version to version.
