    Excellent

I converted a cheap hybrid bicycle I bought for 12k to a 1X8 system using the RD-M3020 derailleur and the CS-HG400-8 cassette. I use this bicycle for my daily commute of around 12km since July, 2022. So far it has not missed a gear, not gone out of alignment. When coupled with Shimano SL-M315 8 speed shifter, the shifts are surprisingly smooth and precise.
My bicycle is a 700c bicycle with 28mm tyre. The crank is 38 teeth. On the highest gear it provides 92 gear inches for high speed riding and on the lowest gear 25 gear inches for climbing. It is not as fast as a road bike for high speed riding and not as good as an MTB for climbing. But it offers good compromise between them and excellent for city commuting.
